Forest Park Forever breaks ground on $5.8 million Central Fields renovation

Improvements to Central Fields will include four soccer fields; three rugby fields; two restroom facilities; a pavilion; a concession stand; new spaces for visitors to meet and gather; re-grading and soil improvements for better drainage; irrigated fields to maintain turf; new trails connecting Central Fields to Steinberg Rink and the Jewel Box; street improvements and better pedestrian access; new bike racks housing up to 36 bikes; and new trees and landscaping.

The project is being funded primarily by private donations to Forest Park Forever’s Forever capital campaign, with additional funds being provided by the city of St. Louis, according to officials.

Forest Park Forever, with the city of St. Louis, broke ground Tuesday on the $5.8 million renovation of Central Fields. As part of its current multi-year phase of capital improvement projects at Forest Park, Central Fields will be rebuilt and enhanced in 2017 and 2018.
